A GLIMPSE INTO OBSCENE-ITY
Welcome to world’s freakiest and dirtiest event in the extreme metal underground scene. As the name shows, Obscene Extreme is not for fainted hearts neither for moralist punks. Expect blood, shit, rain, piss, rubbish, semen all and vaginal fluids spread all over there, everyday. The most extravagant off European freaky gallery in extreme metal and hardcore scenes comes there for a weekend, in a lovely and green place lost the Czech countryside, where most people hardly understand the basic English words…
It’s easy to realize why it has become the most crazy and extreme metal fest in Europe. Just ask Brutal Truth’s Kevin Sharp or Dan Lilker, who were hanging out during all the weekend there and showed up in some gigs just for fun and play with some local bands. But the fact is you can not hold a festival like this, with hundreds of crazy people coming from everywhere, without a strong bill. Curby, the mastermind behind this, has managed to offer an amazing selection of bands each year: from crust to grindcore, from thrash to death metal (a bit of variety within extreme music is the key for a well balanced bill…)
Besides the usual great performances of these big names, bands like Mumakil or Wormrot delivered unrelenting doses of grind and made people crazy: mosh and stage diving attempts didn’t stop during all the weekend long. Taking advantage of the hyperactive Czech extreme scene, the festival bill adds to the most known underground acts young, relatively unknown but proficient bands. So Jig-Ai and Spasm, became both of these local highlights of furious grind. Remember their names.
If you add to this monstrous bill quite good and cheep beer, the chance to meet and drink with old friends and a friendly but extreme to the limit ambience (lots of freaking pretty girls but also nearly real human zombies, Mexican fighters with their scary masks and even some people wearing menstruation compresses as a suit, all them walking randomly through the festival site), the big party is done.
Anyway: amazing festival, great gigs and fantastic ambience. You must experience it. I promised myself to attend there at least once in my life… and I survived!!! Try if you dare…
